We have been providing professional and compassionate veterinary care in Devon for over 50 years. We are a small animal practice covering companion animals like cats, dogs, rabbits and exotic pets. Our six vet surgeries in Totnes, Paignton, Ashburton, Brixham, Buckfastleigh and Dartmouth cover Dartmoor, Torbay and the South Hams.
Gary joined Dart Vale in December 2016 after transferring from another veterinary group in Cornwall where he cut his teeth in the art of practice management. Currently living in Plymouth, he has the standard menagerie of beasts including a son, daughter, dog (Italian Spinone), horse (ex-race horse) and cat (missing most of tail after an argument with a car).
Darrin is the practice administrator here at Dart Vale Vets. He has been married for nearly 30 years and has three children and two Cavaliers called Eddie and Barney. Darrin worked in the banking and financial industries for 35 years before joining us. In his spare time he enjoys DIY, reading and spending time with his family.
Emily has worked for Dart Vale since 1998. After leaving school she studied at Bicton College and gained a national diploma in animal care. She was a full time PCA in our Totnes surgery but returned from maternity leave to work part time in our Brixham surgery. She has six cats, five of whom have been adopted from our Totnes hospital! She also has parrots, tortoises, guinea pigs and fish.
Wanda has been with Dart Vale Vets since 2004 and works in our Totnes surgery. She is owned by two dogs, Murphy a Springer Spaniel and Indie a Patterdale. She enjoys long walks with her dogs and spending time with her family.
Nicola has been with Dart Vale for longer than she cares to remember and works full time in our Totnes branch. She has a long suffering husband, two children who are both at university and a very spoilt cat, but sadly no longer any horses (though always available if anyone wants one exercised!). When not working she is heavily involved in the local pony club where she is the Tetrathlon team manager and teaches swimming and shooting. Any spare time she has is spent gardening or cake making.
Sarah joined Dart Vale in January 2015 and works in the Totnes practice. Sarah and her husband moved to Totnes at the end of 2014 from Farnham in Surrey where she was a volunteer at Hydestile Wildlife Hospital, working both in the hospital and running an ambulance for rescue work. This led to many creatures being taken home for care including over-wintering hedgehogs, fox cubs, birds etc. She also spent time giving a home to those that could not be re-released such as a one winged Canada goose, ducks and, at one point, 15 ferrets. In recent years, Sarah took on three mini Schnauzers who were ex-puppy farm but just has one left now, Steve, and a Jack Russell cross called Dave plus three cats who are also all rescues.
Carolyn has worked for Dart Vale for a number of years, now mainly based in Buckfastleigh and Ashburton. She owns rescue cats, sometimes adopting from our Totnes hospital. She also has an abiding interest in horses and carriage driving, and owns four horses herself including two young Dartmoor Hill ponies. Carolyn volunteers her time to the local charity "Friends of the Dartmoor Hill Pony" doing paperwork and training wild ponies.
Kerry joined Dart Vale in 2008 and leads the reception team at our Paignton surgery. She lives in Newton Abbot with her husband and their two cats, Jess and Tilly. In her spare time she enjoys gardening, swimming and walking and has also done volunteer work at Paignton zoo.
Jess joined Dart Vale in August 2017 and will be seen behind the reception desks at both our Totnes and Paignton surgeries. She works part-time whilst studying at South Devon College for an animal care qualification.
Helen has worked at our Totnes branch since April 2011, before which she lived and worked in south Shropshire. She has owned various animals over the years including sheep, poultry and a horse but only has one cat called Harry at the moment. In her spare time she enjoys riding and driving horses as well as gardening.
